Day of People’s Unity is relatively new public holiday in the Russian Federation held on November 4. Schools, public buildings and most businesses are closed on this day.

This day is an important feast for Orthodox Christians who glorify the Holy Icon of Our Lady of Kazan, one of the most important Russian Orthodox icons. The Unity Day is also celebrated in New York to consolidate Russian-speaking community.
